Demand Action: Don’t Let TIFF Cave to Extremists

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has uninvited the October 7 documentary The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue—by Canadian filmmaker Barry Avrich—from its festival lineup. Their excuse, according to reports, is that the film “did not receive permission” from Hamas terrorists. This is absolutely unreasonable.

By pulling this film, TIFF has silenced a story of extraordinary courage and survival.

Why? Because a small mob of extremists —abroad and here in Canada—demanded it.

TIFF’s decision to cave to extremists is unconscionable and sends a chilling message: Toronto’s Jewish community, which has long played an integral role in the festival, is no longer safe or welcome.

Such capitulation stains TIFF’s reputation and hands extremists a dangerous victory.

TIFF must reverse this decision—now.
